The Celtic Boys Club
An Introduction

Like all long-established football organisations, the history of The Celtic Boys Club contains a mixture of moments of great triumph and of great sadness both on and off the football field. It has grown from an idea to an institution and a key player in the football life of this country. In compiling this synopsis, we have focused on the part that the Boys Club has played in helping a host of young footballers on the road to national and international success. Names like McStay, Aitken, Nevin, Boyd, Burns, Collins and a host of others have gone from the Boys Club teamlines to those of some of Europe ’s greatest clubs and the international side. Former players from our Club have graced football fields across the world, winning domestic and European trophies, and taking part in the greatest football shows on earth, the European Championships and the FIFA World Cup.

Our Boys Club teams have participated in Tournaments around the world bringing a welcome glimpse of The Hoops to many ex-pats. Our teams regularly travel into Europe ; have crossed the ocean to America on numerous occasions and, in the summer of 2002, were to be found competing in Canada . In return, we have always received the hospitality and generosity that makes the worldwide Celtic family so special.

The founders of The Celtic Boys Club have every right to look back with pride at what they set in motion all those years ago. The Club’s successes, over the last 38 years, stand as a testament to the dedication and commitment that they, and their successors, gave in time and effort to enable our players to achieve so much. The present Executive, Committee, Coaches and Players have undertaken to ensure that the future of The Celtic Boys Club will be as successful as its past; and that the privileged place we hold in the worldwide Celtic family will never be taken for granted.
