Celtic continued on their winning ways with an easy win away at John Paul Academy in Maryhill. It was the home team who showed the early promise, winning a couple of corners in the first 10 minutes. Celtic starting to find their form and Ryan Clark was orchestrating from the midfield, his clever pass found Sean MacLean, his cross found Jordan Davidson but his through ball found James Pollock just offside. Celtic with the next corner, the cross easily dealt by the home defence. After 14 minutes Celtic took the lead, good work from Pollock his pass to Davidson who sent MacLean in on goal, his well placed shot giving the keeper no chance 1-0. Clark and Mark McGhee where dominating the midfield and after Clark’s pass Davidson’s shot just wide. Summerston where on the back foot and if wasn’t for some good defending Davidson would surely have scored. Celtic now in complete control and after 28 minutes made it two. Jack Gorman’s strong run created the space for Pollock whose 20 yard strike found the net after a fumble from the home keeper 2-0. The Celtic defence coping well and Dylan Harvey had one of his quieter days but had to look lively on a couple of occasions. Pollock and Davidson on the hunt for more goals but it was McGhee who scored just before the break MacLean’s quick free kick found Clark his ball putting McGhee in, from eight yards his strike finding the net 3-0. Half Time Summerston BC 0 Celtic BC 3 Celtic dominating all over the park, Pollock’s free kick just past the post. Brilliant play from McGhee and MacLean, his pass sending Davidson in on goal his shot well saved. Celtic where soon four up, Davidson sent Pollock free, his first tough sent him away from the oncoming keeper his shot from his weaker left foot dispatched into the back of the net 4-0. Straight after kick off Celtic made it five, a mazy run from McGhee leaving three home defenders in his wake, sent Davidson clear and his strike finding the net 5-0. Summerston still battling away and Keiran Barkeys strong header clearing the danger from a dangerous corner. A Celtic corner from the right, Michael McDowall first to react to the loose ball he passed the ball into the empty goal 6-0. The seventh came after Clark was pushed over in the box, Clark himself dispatched the resulting penalty into the back of the net 7-0. Summerston to their credit never gave up and where rewarded when a ball from the right found the unmarked striker to drill past the helpless Harvey 7-1. McDowalls second and Celtic’s eighth came just before the end after good work from Gorman and Sean Reilly 8-1. Summerston have some good players and will do well to finish mid table. Celtic played well and stay top of the league, some good performances from Gorman,Clark and McGhee with the front pair Davidson and Pollock working hard, will find harder opponents in the coming months.
