The young Celtic team, back after weeks of call offs due to the adverse weather didn’t take long to get about the goals, in this rearranged Regional cup tie at Glasgow Green this afternoon. Right from the start the Celtic attack were at the Thistle defence and after a minute they were one up. Good work from Mark McGhee sent Jordan Davidson clear, beating the fullback his shot luckily beating the home keeper 1-0 Celtic. Thistle from the kick off went forward and won a free kick 30 yards from goal, the home centre struck a ferocious free kick just over. A in swinging corner from the right from Jack Gorman found Sean MacLean unmarked to tap in to make it 2. James Pollock was next to try his luck, his 18 yard strike just past. The midfield pair of Ryan Lamont and Mark McGhee were in full control of the midfield with Lamont next up for a strike, his shot just over. Celtic extended their lead after 15 minutes, James Pollock’s 18 yard strike finding the net 3-0. It was all Celtic and with every attack looked like scoring. Full back Sean Malarkey was next on the score sheet, a corner cleared he struck from over 40 yards, the ball bouncing over the keeper into the net 4-0. Davidson and Pollock were terrorising the home defence and after great play from McGhee his through ball found Davidson, his cross volleyed home by Pollock 5-0. McGhee’s dribbling skills were mesmerising the home defence and his chip sent Davidson clear his shot giving the keeper no chance 6-0. Half Time. Tower Thistle 0 Celtic BC 6 With changes made at the break, the young hoops were attacking right from the off, a fine save from the Thistle keeper denying Davidson his hat trick. Gorman was playing brilliantly and his fine play on the left, he found McGhee who lay it into the path of MacLean whose shot found the net 7-0. Keiran Barkey was the next to have a strike, his free kick was just over but Celtic weren’t finished, Davidson’s fine run through the Thistle defence, his shot finding the net to complete his hat trick 8-0. The hoops were well on top and good work from Mark Rodger and Barkey kept the home attack at bay, with Anton Black the Celtic keeper rarely troubled. Michael McDowall now in midfield, his one two with Sam Brannan found Pollock eight yards out his shot come cross found MacLean to tap in for his hat trick 9-0. Thistle were next to attack but Black, quick to snuff out the attack and it was his quick throw sent Gorman into attack he found Pollock whose shot from 20 yards, his hat trick, gave the keeper no chance 10-0. Sam Brannan’s marauding on the right had its rewards, his run finishing with a strike at goal making it 11. McDowall was to finish the rout his run and shot saved well, first to the rebound, he found the net 12-0. A good win for the young hoops after the enforced break, tougher games ahead. Full Time.
