Celtic 4 Petershill 1

Glasgow and District Youth League

Celtic returned to winning ways with a hard fought win against a strong Petershill side. Celtic started well, and a from quick throw from Michael McDowall found Ryan Clark and his fine shot was saved well from the Petershill keeper. Keiran Barkey was the next to warm the keeper hands, his 20 yard strike saved well. Celtic probing for the opener, were finding the Peesie defence solid and they were unlucky to go behind after 6 minutes, a free kick on the right hand side, twenty yards from goal, Sean Reilly curled over the wall where the keeper could only parry his shot into the net 1-0 Celtic. The Hoops doubled their lead soon after, a corner for Petershill was cleared by Sean Malarkey, his pass finding Jordan Davidson, just inside his own half he ran forward leaving two in his wake, rounding another two defenders taking him in on goal his near post strike finding the back of the net 2-0. Petershill still making chances of there own, but finding Dylan Harvey on form with some fine saves frustrating the Petershill attack. Davidson was again through on goal but his tame shot was easily saved. Jack Gorman’s 30 yard pass sending Davidson clear, the keeper getting to the ball just in front of the pacy forward. Gorman was finding his range, and his clever cross field pass sent Sean MacLean free on the right, his pace to much for the Peesie defence, his clever play sent Davidson in on goal, his strike always rising and over the bar.

Half Time 2 – 0

Petershill still competing, knew a goal would get them back into this match, but where finding sub keeper Anton Black in fine form, saving well from the Peesie attack. Petershill were thrown a lifeline, a rushed clearance from Kyle Ckrystal, his pass only clearing the 18 yard line, the Petershill midfielder controlling well before hitting an unstoppable shot high into the net 2-1. The Hoops, stunned, were soon on the attack, good skills from Mark McGhee sending him clear his forward pass finding Reilly his clever through ball met by James Pollock, whose well taken shot, finding the net giving the keeper no chance 3-1 Celtic. Davidson’s pace was causing mayhem in the Peesie defence and his strong run with some added luck, he found himself clear, his powerful strike finding the roof of the net 4-1 Celtic. The game now won, Celtic’s 100% league record intact, wont find much harder games this season as Petershill made them fight for every ball and will be near the top come the end of the season.
